Newsletter – January 22, 2026

Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish School Families,

Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate the incredible gift of Catholic education. As the principal of St. Francis de Sales School in Lake Geneva, I see every day how our school forms not only strong students but also strong disciples.

Catholic schools are places where faith is lived, not just taught. At SFDS, prayer, service, and Gospel values are woven into every part of the day: in classrooms, on the playground, and through weekly Mass and service opportunities. Our students learn to grow academically while also learning how to live with compassion, responsibility, and respect.

We educate the whole child: mind, heart, and soul. In a world that often sends confusing messages about truth and values, Catholic schools provide clarity, purpose, and stability rooted in Christ.

A defining strength of Catholic education is the partnership between school and family. Parents, teachers, and staff work together to ensure students feel known, supported, and challenged to become the best version of themselves.

Our teachers hold high expectations while providing personal attention in smaller class settings. More than instructors, they are mentors and witnesses to faith who guide students each day.

While no school is without challenges, Catholic education responds with creativity, care, and commitment to mission. Families invest in this formation, and we honor that trust by providing an environment grounded in excellence and Gospel values.

Catholic schools prepare students not only for the next grade, but for life — with strong academics, moral courage, service, and faith at the center.

We celebrate the gift of Catholic education during Catholic Schools Week! We are excited to share a week full of special activities that highlight the heart of St. Francis de Sales Parish School: Faith Formation, Academic Excellence, Leadership Development, and Family. From service projects to school-wide events, each day will give our students opportunities to grow spiritually, academically, and socially, while having fun together. Below is a summary of many of the exciting events and dress themes planned for our students:

  • Sunday, January 25: Mass Day. Students are encouraged to wear their school uniforms to Mass this weekend. If you take a photo at church and email it to Traci, your child will earn a Casual Dress Day dollar. We will have a School Mass celebrated by our students at 10:30 am. Please join us if you can!
  • Monday, January 26: PJ Day & Games Day. Students can get cozy in their pajamas and will enjoy a Pancake Lunch provided by our Home and School Association at the Parish Center.
  • Tuesday, January 27: Flannel Day. Flannel is the dress theme for the day. We will host our annual Spelling Bee for 3rd–8thgrades starting at 1:45 pm.
  • Wednesday, January 28: Uniform Day. It is also National Lego Day. We will be traveling to Catholic Central High School for Mass at 9:30 am. Archbishop Grob will be the celebrant for the Mass. In the afternoon, we are excited to host the WPS Reptiles Assembly. Join us later that evening for our School Open House from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing what makes St. Francis de Sales Parish School such a special place.
  • Thursday, January 29: College / HS Spirit Wear. It is National Puzzle Day. Students can wear their finest College or High School spirit wear! Students in grades 1–8 will participate in Religion Rocksat 9:00 am. The highly anticipated 8th Grade vs. Staff Volleyball game is that day also!
  • Friday, January 30: SFdS School Spirit Day. Wear your finest St. Francis de Sales Parish School Spirit Wear or school colors: Red, white, and blue! Our final day features a Scavenger Hunt at 9:00 am. Please note dismissal is at 11:30 am. We will have busing but no after-school day care. There is also a Class Trip fundraiser at Timber Ridge Waterpark that afternoon.

We are excited to celebrate Catholic Schools Week with our students, families, and parish community! Each day is filled with fun, faith, and learning, and we encourage you to participate whenever you can. Thank you for supporting St. Francis de Sales Parish School and helping us make this week a memorable celebration. It is a privilege to serve the St. Francis de Sales community and to partner with families in the transformative mission of Catholic education.
