Newsletter – January 30, 2026

Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish School Families,

Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is always an exciting time at St. Francis de Sales Parish School: a moment to celebrate faith, community, service, and the remarkable students and staff who make our school a wonderful place to learn and grow. This year’s celebration was filled with prayer, learning, fun, and a lot of school spirit!

Our week started where our mission begins: at the altar.

Sunday: Students Leading in Faith

We kicked off Catholic Schools Week with our students leading the Mass for the St. Francis de Sales Parish community. Students served as readers, ushers, choir members, and altar servers, providing a strong witness to our faith. It reminded us that SFDS students are shaped not only as learners but also as leaders in the Church.

Monday: Pancakes & Play

On Monday, we celebrated Catholic Schools Week with smiles and full stomachs during our Pancake Lunch and Game Day. Students enjoyed spending time together, building friendships, laughing, and starting the week with positive energy and a sense of community.

Tuesday: Spelling Bee Stars

Our students showcased their academic talents during our Annual School Spelling Bee. It was inspiring to see our participants demonstrate focus, perseverance, and confidence. We are proud of everyone who competed and represented SFDS so well!

Wednesday: Faith, Fun & Families

Wednesday was filled with meaningful moments and exciting experiences:

  • Our students came together for Catholic Schools Week Mass at Catholic Central High School, celebrated by Archbishop Grob, which strengthened our faith and unity.
  • We welcomed WPS Reptiles for a hands-on Reptile Assembly in the afternoon, giving students a chance to learn about God’s amazing creatures up close.
  • We finished the day with our Annual School Open House, where current and prospective families experienced what makes St. Francis de Sales Parish School such a special place. Thank you to the families who joined us and helped showcase our wonderful school community.

Thursday: Confidence, Character & School Spirit

Students showcased their faith knowledge during the Religion Rocks Competition, and Thursday wrapped up with the fan-favorite 8th Grade vs. Faculty Volleyball Game. The stands were packed, the energy was high, and the result was… predictable.  The 8th graders easily won every game, reminding us all that young legs and energy beat experience and old knees every time! Moments like these showcase the fun, spirit, and family atmosphere that make SFDS special.

Friday: Fun, Teamwork & Family Time

We wrapped up Catholic Schools Week with a school-wide scavenger hunt with our Buddy Classes, fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of laughter across grade levels.

 Forming Servant Leaders

Service is central to our mission at St. Francis de Sales Parish School. During Catholic Schools Week, each grade level participated in meaningful community outreach projects. Students made tie blankets and birthday baskets for the Tree House Child and Family Center, collected donations for the Lakeland Animal Shelter, Geneva Lakes Conservancy, and the Lake Geneva Food Pantry, and our middle school students teamed up with New Day Women’s Clinic to donate items and heartfelt letters of encouragement. Through these activities, students developed compassion, responsibility, and leadership skills; qualities that extend well beyond the classroom.

Why Families Choose SFDS

Catholic Schools Week highlights what families experience every day at St. Francis de Sales Parish School:

  • A strong Catholic identity
  • High academic standards
  • Leadership and service opportunities
  • A welcoming, family-oriented community
  • Students are known, challenged, and loved

Thank you for choosing to send your child to St. Francis de Sales Parish School. Your support helps create a community rooted in faith, learning, service, and care for each student. We appreciate your partnership and are honored to help your child grow in mind, heart, and spirit.
