Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish School Families and Friends,
On Monday, our 8th-grade students brought the lives of the saints to life during our annual St. Francis de Sales Parish School Saints Fair! Dressed as their chosen saints, the students shared short presentations with other classes, teaching about the extraordinary faith and courage of these holy men and women.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Kim Vanderwerff, students researched and portrayed saints including Fr. Angelico, St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, Bartolo Longo, Dorothy Day, St. Katharine Drexel, St. Gianna Molla, Blessed James Miller, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mariana de Jesús de Paredes, St. Margaret of Scotland, St. Maria Goretti, St. Dymphna, St. Lucy, and Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich.
Throughout the day, our younger students visited the 8th graders’ displays, asking questions and learning about how each saint lived out their faith in everyday life. It was a meaningful and inspiring experience for everyone: a reminder that holiness takes many forms, and that we are all called to live with faith, courage, and love.
Thank you to Mrs. Vanderwerff and our 8th graders for their thoughtful research and creativity, and for continuing this beautiful tradition that helps us grow together as a faith-filled community.
St. Francis de Sales Parish School will honor the brave men and women who have served our country with a special Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 11th, beginning at 8:45 am. The celebration will start with Mass, followed by student presentations, the singing of the Armed Forces songs, and refreshments for the veterans in attendance.
As part of our tribute, we are creating a Wall of Honor to recognize veterans within our school families. These photos will be displayed in the Parish Center, allowing our students and community to honor and learn about the heroes connected to our St. Francis de Sales family.
Together, we will show our gratitude and respect for those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 13th, from 1:20 pm to 7:00 pm. To allow time for conferences, students will have an early dismissal at 1:00 pm that day. An electronic sign-up for Preschool through 5th Grade conferences has been shared. Log in to Option C to sign up. Middle School and Specials teachers will be available in the gym during conference hours; please stop by to connect with them when they are available.
Parent-Teacher Conferences provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their successes, and collaborate on ways to support their continued academic and social growth. We look forward to meeting with you!
We will be offering Vision Screenings for students soon. This year, screenings will not be conducted for all students, but only for those who are signed up. If you would like your child to participate, please get in touch with Amanda or Traci in the School Office as soon as possible.
Next Tuesday, November 11th, at 6:30 pm, Dr. Emma Scaro from Chiros in Motion will be hosting a seminar at Catholic Central High School to talk about “How Nutrition and Mindset Impact Performance.” Please see the attached flyer. This is a free event that is open this to all St. Francis de Sales Parish School 7th and 8th graders. Student-athletes should come prepared with questions and ready to take notes.
Parents/athletes can RSVP by filling out this Google form.
Catholic Central High School has added an additional Shadow Day on Tuesday, November 18th, from 7:30 am – 11:30 am. Shadow Days are great opportunities for your child to experience life as a Topper and get a firsthand glimpse into high school at Catholic Central. During the Shadow Day, students will be paired with a current CC student, attend classes, meet teachers, and enjoy lunch together.

Christmas Parade Float!
Now that Halloween is wrapped up and candy buckets are emptied out, we’re gearing up for one of our next events — the Annual Christmas Parade! This year’s float theme “Noah’s Ark” we’re looking for any animal costumes (big or small, cute or cuddly!) that your little ones might have worn for Halloween and grown out of.
Do you have any animal costumes you’d be willing to donate or buy any on clearance while shopping?
They’ll be worn by our students during the parade as we bring Noah’s Ark and friends to life!
Thank you for helping us make the holidays magical!
