Newsletter – October 9, 2025

Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish School Families,

Mark your calendars! Our annual Catholic Schools Walk, one of the largest fundraisers for St. Francis de Sales School, will take place Saturday, October 18, 2025, following the 5:15 pm Mass. Our students will be celebrating and participating in the Mass, which is a fantastic way to begin this special evening.

Last year, our Home and School Association introduced the Luminary Walk, a glowing path along Highway 50/Main Street decorated with luminaries designed by our students. These special creations highlight what our students love most about our school and will once again guide our walk this year. After the walk, we’ll gather as a school and parish community to share a meal.

There are many ways you can join in:

to help raise funds directly for our school.

  • Join Us for Mass & Meal: Celebrate Mass with us at 5:15 pm and then enjoy a community meal catered by Next Door Pub. Cost of dinner is $15 per adult and $10 per child (Max $50 per family), and can be purchased online https://fundraise.givesmart.com/e/GsIvqg?vid=1m0gqq or at the door.
  • Make a Donation: Every contribution makes a difference! Donors are invited to dedicate a luminaria that will light our path.
  • Sponsorships: Do you work for a business with charitable giving programs or matching gifts? Please reach out to homeandschool@sfdslg.org or call the School Office at (262) 248-2778 to learn more about sponsorship opportunities.

As an added incentive, we will be offering the following incentives to our students and teachers for the Luminary Walk:

  • The class with the most students signed up for the fundraising page, or with 100% participation, will receive an extra recess and casual dress day.
  • The class with the most money raised will receive a casual dress day and pizza lunch with the principal.
  • Also, for the class with the most money raised, the teacher will receive another planning period along with a casual dress day.

Thank you for your generous support of our school’s mission. We look forward to walking and celebrating with you on October 18th!

Our St. Francis de Sales Parish School community mourns the passing of Mrs. Laura Bergesen, who dedicated 27 years of her life to serving our students, families, teachers, and parish with love and devotion. Laura was a cherished member of our school family, known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and care for others.

Throughout her years at St. Francis de Sales, Laura touched many lives with her warmth and generosity. She was deeply committed to our students, parents, and staff, and she fostered a welcoming, faith-filled environment at our school. Her presence brightened our school, and her compassion strengthened our community in immeasurable ways.

visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, followed by a funeral Mass on Friday, October 17, at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Laura’s legacy will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her at St. Francis de Sales. In her honor, the family invites donations to be made to the St. Francis de Sales Angel Fund, continuing her lifelong spirit of helping others. May Laura’s memory remain a lasting blessing to our St. Francis de Sales Parish School family.

October is a special month for Catholics as we honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and our Mother, too! To celebrate, St. Francis de Sales Parish School will pray a Living Rosary together on Monday, October 20th, at 2:30 pm in St. Francis de Sales Church to show our love and devotion to Mary. In a Living Rosary, each student will represent a bead of the Rosary as we pray together and reflect as one community of faith. As always, parents are welcome to come and pray with us!

You’re invited to explore all that Catholic Central High School (CCHS) has to offer at their Open House on Thursday, October 16th, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.

At Catholic Central, students are more than just a number: They’re known, supported, and encouraged to grow in faith, character, and academics. See how this vibrant community helps young people thrive through strong academics, faith formation, and countless opportunities in athletics, leadership, and service.

Enjoy a tour, meet dedicated teachers, and learn about tuition assistance and programs that make Catholic Central one of the most affordable options in our area.

For more information, visit catholicccentralhs.org or contact the Admissions Office at (262) 763-1510 or by email at admissions@cchsnet.org. Experience the CCHS difference for yourself!

Finally, as a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, Friday, October 10th, due to a Teacher In-Service Day. Please plan accordingly and enjoy the long weekend!

Christmas Parade Float!

As Halloween wraps up and candy buckets empty out, we’re already gearing up for one of our next events — the Annual Christmas Parade! This year’s float theme “Noah’s Ark” we’re looking for any animal costumes (big or small, cute or cuddly!) that your little ones might have worn for Halloween and grown out of.

Do you have any animal costumes you’d be willing to donate or buy any on clearance while shopping?
They’ll be worn by our students during the parade as we bring Noah’s Ark and friends to life!

Thank you for helping us make the holidays magical!
