Newsletter – September 18, 2025

09/18/2025

Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish School Families,

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and parish community remain our top priority. We are continually reviewing and enhancing our security measures to ensure that everyone feels safe while learning, praying, and gathering together. I want to share with you several updates regarding school safety:

o   Police Presence during our School Masses: We are grateful for the partnership of local law enforcement, who provide a visible and reassuring presence during our school Masses.

o   Security Personnel: We are in talks to add additional security staff to help monitor and ensure safety during our school Masses and parish events.

o   WAVE Radio System: We are upgrading our internal communication with a new WAVE Radio system. The WAVE system is an emergency communication tool that allows our school and parish staff to instantly connect with first responders in the event of a critical incident occurring. Unlike regular radios, it operates through a secure digital network and can send alerts across radios, cell phones, and computers. In the event of an emergency, whether medical, weather-related, or safety-based, everyone who needs to know is notified immediately, and help can be coordinated without delay.

o   Security Cameras: Through a generous donation, we are purchasing new 4K high-resolution cameras with AI recognition to provide greater coverage of entrances, hallways, and parish grounds. The AI technology allows for improved monitoring by detecting unusual activity and alerting staff more quickly. The system is also accessible remotely, allowing school and parish administration to monitor activity from home. All footage is securely stored and used solely for safety purposes, ensuring the privacy of students, parishioners, and visitors while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

  • Bullet-Resistant Film: We have been permitted to add protective film to school and parish windows. The film will add a layer of protection without completely replacing existing windows, making it an effective safety upgrade. Think of it as a tough, invisible shield for our windows: It won’t make the glass completely indestructible, but it greatly increases the time and effort someone would need to get through.
  • Training for Staff: Teachers and staff continue to receive updated procedures and training to ensure they are prepared and confident in maintaining a safe environment.

We thank you for your ongoing support, prayers, and trust as we work together to keep St. Francis de Sales Parish School a safe and welcoming place for all.

Please make plans to join us at the St. Francis de Sales Parish Festival, which will be held on Sunday, September 28th, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. St. Francis de Sales Parish School thrives because of the generous support of our parish. The Parish Festival is an excellent opportunity for our school families to show their appreciation, connect with fellow parishioners, and enjoy a day of fun, food, and fellowship. An event of this size needs plenty of volunteers. Here is the signup link if you would like to volunteer: St. Francis de Sales Parish Festival

We hope to see all our school parents and families there!

We’re thrilled to announce that our new school addition is set to break ground in October! We are actively collaborating with all partners, including Scherrer Construction, to prepare for four new classrooms. This expansion is about more than just space: It’s a continued commitment to our school mission of Building in Faith, Growing in Knowledge.

Speaking of our friends at Scherrer Construction, they recently donated a Buddy Bench to the school. Scherrer Construction provides Buddy Benches to schools across Wisconsin, aiming to promote kindness, inclusion, and friendship on playgrounds. These benches serve as a safe place for students to sit if they’re feeling lonely or need a friend, signaling to others to come alongside them with a welcoming heart. It’s also an excellent place for parents to hang out as their children play on the playground. Thank you for the generous donation!
