Dear St. Francis de Sales School Families,

In light of last Wednesday’s tragic shooting in Minneapolis, I want to take a moment to share how we are working to ensure the continued safety and well-being of our students and staff here at St. Francis de Sales.

Over the past week, I’ve had good conversations with our School Resource Officer, Aaron Greetham, and Lake Geneva Chief of Police, Ed Gritzner, along with Father Ray, the staff, and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Together, we discussed ways to strengthen our safety procedures and preparedness further. I want to assure you that the City of Lake Geneva Police Department is committed to being proactive, not reactive, when it comes to our school safety.

To provide you with a better picture, I am including a Letter from the City of Lake Geneva Chief of Police Ed Gritzner:

Dear Parents, Guardians, and School Staff,

The safety of our students and educators remains one of our highest priorities at the City of Lake Geneva Police Department. I want to assure you that we are proactive and not waiting for a crisis to prepare — we have already established policies, procedures, and regular training designed to keep our schools safe. Our officers are well-staffed, well-trained, and well-equipped to respond to any emergency that may arise. In addition, we maintain strong partnerships with neighboring jurisdictions and statewide agencies, ensuring that additional resources are available whenever needed.

During the school year, you will see our officers maintaining an increased presence around school zones as part of our routine patrol. On Thursdays, we will also have extra coverage during the 8:45 am School Mass to provide additional reassurance. Beyond the uniforms and badges, many of our officers are also parents, neighbors, and friends who live right here in this community. We share the same vested interest in the well-being of our schools because these are the same schools our own children attend.

This is our community, and protecting it is both our responsibility and our privilege. You can feel confident knowing that your police department is present, prepared, and fully committed to the safety of your children, their educators, and the greater school community.

 Sincerely,
Ed Gritzner

Chief of Police / Parent

We are also continuing to contact other individuals and agencies as we work to strengthen our existing safety policies and procedures.

At St. Francis de Sales Parish School, we are deeply grateful for the support of Father Ray, our dedicated teachers and staff, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and the City of Lake Geneva Police Department. Together, we are committed to providing a safe, faith-filled environment where children can learn, grow, and feel cared for.

Please continue to keep our school, our community, and all those affected by recent events in your prayers.

 Lemonade Thank you

Thank you to everyone who made our 3rd annual SFDS Lemonade Stand such a success! Thank you to everyone who came to help sell, made baked goods or posters for advertising, and those who couldn’t make it that made generous donations to help support!

I really wanted to recognize our students for all the teamwork they showed on Saturday! They ran the entire stand this year and did a great job! Our total sales were around $900.

Way to go SFDS!!!

Seal A Smile!

OPEN ARMS FREE CLINIC is offering a preventive dental sealant program for ALL children in ALL GRADES. This program is funded by the Wisconsin Seal-A-Smile, a collaborative program of Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. A licensed dental provider will come to the school to provide the sealant program at no charge to you. The program includes: assessment to determine if sealants can be done, sealants if appropriate, fluoride treatments and tooth brushing instructions with a new toothbrush. A follow-up letter will be sent home to describe what was completed and what is recommended for future needs. All procedures will follow recommendations from the American Dental Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for school based dental sealant programs.
