No School Friday 8/28/2025 and Monday 9/1/2025

Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish School,

Wearing their yellow construction helmets and safety vests, our St. Francis de Sales Parish School staff welcomed back students on a beautiful August morning this past Monday. Knowing that the road to academic achievement is always under construction, our school theme for August is Building a Bright Future this yearThe blueprints for success have been created, and it promises to be another great new school year here at St. Francis de Sales Parish School!

The day began with a special morning assembly by the 6th grade. Students and staff pledged allegiance to the U.S. Flag, sang the National Anthem, and prayed together as a school. We also introduced our new students and warmly welcomed them into our school family, along with all the dedicated staff members who will guide and support our students throughout the year.

Although physical construction has not yet begun on the school addition, we know the most important building is already happening every day within our school community. We look forward to a year of growth, learning, and continued blessings as we help build a bright future for every student.

At our first St. Francis de Sales Parish School Mass of the new school year, we celebrated our 8th Grade Commissioning Ceremony. Our 8th-grade students pledged before Fr. Ray, Mrs. Vanderwerff, families, friends, teachers, classmates, and parishioners:

  • to promise to serve as good Catholic role models,
  • show dignity, respect, and courtesy to all,
  • change the school for the better and live their faith in both words and actions,
  • put their faith, family, and friends first,
  • be good stewards of all that they have been blessed with,
  • lend a hand to those in need,
  • put forth a great attitude and effort to excel in any endeavor, and
  • uphold the traditions and standards of St. Francis de Sales Parish School.

These are the responsibilities that our 8th graders have pledged to uphold. We trust the Lord that they will act faithfully, confidently, respectfully, and courageously as our school leaders. Make us proud, Class of 2026!

With the start of the school year, we’ve had many requests from students about riding their bikes to and from school. We encourage this healthy and environmentally friendly choice, but we also want to ensure everyone’s safety.

Parents, please send the office an email letting us know that you’ve given your child permission to ride their bike to school.

Please review the following guidelines with your child:

  • Wear a helmet every time you ride.
  • Use crosswalks and follow all traffic signals.
  • Walk your bike while on school property, including sidewalks and parking lots.
  • Lock your bike securely and park it under the stairwell.
  • Be aware of pedestrians and vehicles, especially during arrival and dismissal times.

Our priority is keeping all students safe as they travel to and from school. Thank you for helping us reinforce these safety habits at home.

As we head into the long weekend, I want to wish everyone a safe and restful Labor Day.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week, ready for more learning and growth together!

H & S Lemonade Stand Thank you

Thank you to everyone who made our 3rd annual SFDS Lemonade Stand such a success! Thank you to everyone who came to help sell, made baked goods or posters for advertising, and those who couldn’t make it that made generous donations to help support!

I really wanted to recognize our students for all the teamwork they showed on Saturday! They ran the entire stand this year and did a great job! Our total sales were around $900.

Way to go SFDS!!!
