Newsletter – April 16, 2026

04/16/2026

Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish School Families,

We want to recognize our outstanding art teacher, Marcie Fain, for guiding and inspiring our students. The recent All-School Art Showcase reflected her dedication, creativity, and passion for the arts. Held at Burlington Catholic’s St. Charles Campus, the Showcase featured an impressive collection of student artwork from St. Francis de Sales Parish School, along with work from Burlington Catholic and Catholic Central High School. From paintings to detailed drawings to mixed-media creations, each piece showcased our students’ unique gifts and hard work. Thank you, Mrs. Fain, for fostering a love of art in our school and for helping our students express themselves in meaningful, creative ways.

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee recognizes April 19th–April 25th as Safe Environment Awareness Week. Each year, in April, recognized nationwide as Child Abuse Prevention Month, we dedicate a week to raising awareness of the Church’s efforts to keep our children safe. We want people to know that we are committed to maintaining safe environments in our parishes and schools through adult-child abuse-prevention training, criminal background checks for all clergy, volunteers working with minors, and employees, safety training for children at each grade level, and adherence to all mandatory reporting requirements.

This year, join us at St. Francis de Sales Parish School on Blue Monday, April 20th, as we show our support for child abuse prevention by wearing blue. Wearing blue reminds us and encourages others to prevent child abuse and to support healthy children and families.

This year, St. Francis de Sales Parish School is participating in the Child Abuse Prevention Project Pinwheels for Prevention. In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America adopted the pinwheel as a symbol of child abuse prevention. We often see pinwheels decorating state capitol buildings, hospitals, social service organizations, and nonprofits, reminding us of the childhood every child deserves. We join the nation in making pinwheels to underscore the importance of safeguarding those most vulnerable around us and to affirm that all children deserve a childhood free from abuse. Every child in our parishes and schools deserves to be part of a Catholic community that provides a safe, faith-filled, and healthy environment where they are protected and nurtured by the adults around them. As we observe Safe Environment Week in our parishes and schools, we are reminded of the Wounded Body of Christ we are part of and of our journey toward healing.

St. Francis de Sales Parish School is delighted to invite our grandparents to join us for Grandparents Day on Thursday, May 7th. This special event is a meaningful opportunity for students to share their school journey with the loved ones who hold a special place in their hearts.

Grandparents Day begins with our guests meeting their grandchildren at a School Mass at 8:45 am. Following Mass, we will have our May Crowning, a heartfelt tribute to the Blessed Mother Mary. Following this ceremony, grandparents are invited to witness a one-act performance of The Little Mermaid by our students, highlighting their dedication, creativity, and talent. We will also have several other student performances. The event also offers a wonderful opportunity to explore our students’ classrooms and see their learning in action. The day will conclude at 11:15 am. Grandparents can choose to stay and enjoy lunch with their grandchildren or take them out for lunch on their own, making for a memorable and enriching day.

Please save the date and share this invitation with your child’s grandparents. We want to ensure they feel welcome and included on this special day. Please RSVP to Traci at tracivavrina@sfdslg.org so we know who will be attending and can plan accordingly. Grandparents play an important role in our students’ lives, and we are grateful to share this meaningful day with them!
