I graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana in 2000 with an Art Education Degree. I then received my Masters in curriculum development from St. Xavier’s’ University in 2006. I taught for 2 years in Chicago Public Schools, 1 year at Zion Benton H.S. then 2 at Lakes Community H.S. before staying home with my kids. I then found my spot here at St. Francis working part time as the art teacher. I am now full time with PE and Art.
I am thrilled to draw, paint, sculpt, and create artistic visions with your children.
In the art room your child will learn to love art and creating masterpieces with their hands. This year your child will use his/her imagination to problem solve, design, create, and explore a variety of art projects and mediums. They’ll explore cultures and observe how art is created around the world.
I try and display as many projects as I can on an art website called Artsonia. Artsonia is an educational art gallery used to publish student’s art so that family and friends can see and comment on our art. It enables our art program to raise money while promoting artistic confidence to our young artist. It is a school friendly site with parental regulations and controls. I will be uploading the student’s projects onto this sight with your permission. Then you as parents can purchase items such as t-shirts or mugs with your child’s artwork on it. The funds raised will help purchase new materials for our art program.
Art class at SFDS combines a passion for learning with creativity and exploration. I am excited to begin a new year decorating our school hallways with the childrens’ creative artistic masterpieces!
