Welcome Fr. Mark & Fr. Sergio!

Fr. Mark Danczyk

Fr. Mark Danczyk was born and raised on the northwest side of Milwaukee. An only child, he attended St. Margaret Mary grade school and knew even then that he wanted to become a priest. He entered St. Francis de Sales Seminary his first year of high school. At that time, seminarians lived at the seminary but attended high school off campus. He attended Dominican High School and then Marquette University for college. He graduated from Marquette with degrees in Psychology, Computer Technology, and Theology! He did his graduate work at St. Francis seminary, earning a Masters in Divinity. He has a real quest for learning and continues to do online studies though U. of C., Berkeley toward earning a PhD in Psychology.

Fr. Mark was ordained by Archbishop Weakland on May 22, 1992 and recently celebrated his 25th anniversary! His first assignment in the archdiocese was as the associate pastor at St. Rita’s in West Allis. After 3 years there he went on to St. Mary’s in Kenosha for 6 years. For the past 15 years has been the beloved pastor of St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia. He is very happy to be the new shared pastor for St. Francis de Sales and St. Benedict! Please give him a warm welcome!

Fr. Sergio Lizama

Fr. Sergio Lizama was born in La Esperanza, Chile. The oldest of five boys, he was greatly influenced by his grandmother who encouraged him to see God in everything. He entered the Seminary of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart at the age of 13. He was in the Novitiate in Brazil in 1969, and in February of 1970, he professed his first vows as a Brother. Sergio was a teacher in the order, having graduated from the Catholic University in Chile with a Bachelor’s Degree in High School Education with a specialty in Spanish and German Literature. Besides working as a teacher, he also was a principal. In 1984, while studying in Rome, Brother Sergio was asked to represent South America on Candlemas Day. At that time he met Pope John Paul II who handed him a candle and said, “Sergio, take the light of Christ to the world!” He joined the order of the Pallotines in 1999 and was ordained as a priest by Archbishop Dolan in 2006. In 2005 he received his Master of Divinity Degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington DC.

We are very grateful to have Fr. Sergio join us as the associate pastor for St. Francis de Sales and St. Benedict, and look forward to learning and working with him!
