Below are all the volunteer opportunities available for the 2019-20 school year. In order to host the events and activities beloved by the SFDS community we rely heavily on the service of our parent volunteers! A room parent serves as the point person for communication with parents and provides other support as needed within the classroom. Some responsibilities include: to facilitate and coordinate classroom parties throughout the year, organize the birthday gift for the classroom teacher, communicate with class parents via email, assist teacher with various tasks, and organize snack schedule during MAP testing. There should be two room parent volunteers per classroom.
Room Parent Coordinator
The room parent coordinator mentors and guides the room parents in their individual roles.
This year’s Casino Night will be held on May 2, 2020 at The Abbey in Fontana. Casino Night is our most profitable fundraiser here at SFDS! It is a night filled with food, silent & live auctions, raffles and friends!
On Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, SFDS will hold its 8th Annual Jog-A-Thon. This event is an exciting way for the students to raise funds for the school, get some exercise and build school spirit. Students from every grade participate. Organized by grade level and cheered on by the whole school, students run a set course around the school and parish grounds. Every student receives a medal.
On Oct. 25, SFDS will hold its annual Halloween Party. This party is a HUGE hit with the SFDS student body! It is the “don’t miss” event of the year for the kids. There is a D.J., face painter, balloon artist, raffle and yummy food.
Come and enjoy the delicious Pancake Breakfast on December 15, 2019. Get ready for the holidays by purchasing items from the Bake Shoppe and Poinsettia Sale. This annual event is a parish-wide fundraiser sponsored by our Home and School Association and your support is needed at this event to help maintain the many quality programs and activities that are funded through Home and School.
The mother/son bowling is an afternoon filled with laughs, fun and a little good-natured competition! It’s a great way to hang out with other sons and moms in your class.
The father/daughter dance, on March 7, 2019, is a wonderful evening for dads to treat their little princesses to a night on the town! So, get decked out in your finest attire and enjoy the food, music, dancing and memories that will last a lifetime!
Help build this year’s SFDS float for the Lake Geneva Children’s Christmas Parade. A pizza party will follow after all the heavy lifting is complete. All students are welcome to ride/walk in the parade.
Home & School hosts an all-school pancake lunch during Catholic Schools Week. Parents and students dress in pajamas for the special lunch.
The Lake Geneva Pie Co. has come up with a great alternative (an upgrade) to the Market Day Pie Sale. We are going to pre-sell apple pies for the month of September and then hold a pie-making event to assemble to pies. The pies will be ready by Thanksgiving. All parents are welcome to help volunteer to assemble these pies.

5K Run Fundraiser
A 5K race to benefit St. Francis de Sales School will be held on May 30, 2020. Join us this year for another great run. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. The route begins and ends at the school. Racers will receive a t-shirt. Awards will be given to overall male / female and top 3 in age divisions.
A Scholastic Book Fair is held twice a year. Parents and children are invited to explore the many books available for sale. All sales help support the school library and the individual classroom libraries.
Box Tops Coordinator
The volunteer for this position needs to collect, trim and count the Box Tops to submit for reimbursement, The coordinator will set up a casual day incentives schedule with Mrs. Maus and report updates to H&S.
This fundraiser brings families together for games, crafts, food, raffles and prizes in our school gym. All proceeds benefit the Pre-School program. Join us next year for this fun event!
Before you shop, consider SCRIP Gift Cards. This year-long program contributes to our school textbook fund. In the last six years, your purchases have earned over $46,000 of funding used to purchase new textbooks!
Use the cards for daily shopping needs or give as a gift. You get the entire face value of your purchase. A percentage of the card value is donated back to our school. Order with the monthly form sent home with your child, purchase cards in the school office or place your order online (preferred method). New this year we ask that all families register online. Through the SFDS ski program, students can participate in a weekly ski or snowboard lesson at the Grand Geneva. Usually lessons are held on Wednesdays starting in Dec or Jan for 6 weeks.
Children 5k-8th grade go through a vision screening each year. Volunteers are needed to test the students the day of the event.
Food Pantry Drop Off
The volunteer(s) drop off the food collected at Mass, one Wednesday a month, at the Congregational Church in Lake Geneva.
